"Into the Groove" is a song by Madonna from her second studio album Like a Virgin, it was released as the fourth single and is available on the reissued version of the album. It was also featured in the film Desperately Seeking Susan, which Madonna starred in.
During an interview with Time, Madonna said that she wrote the song while watching a Latin boy across her balcony. Calling the song 'dorky', The freedom that I always feel when I'm dancing, that feeling of inhabiting your body, letting yourself go, expressing yourself through music. I always thought of it as a magical place – even if you're not taking ecstasy. Hence that came to me as the primary inspiration for 'Into the Groove'."
The song consists of instrumentation from drums, percussion, congas and whistles. Madonna's voice is double-tracked in the chorus. The lyrics are simple, and written as an invitation to dance with the singer, with sexual innuendos and undertones in the meaning.
