The Met Gala, formally known as the Costume Institution Gala is a fundraising gala held annually for the Costume Institution of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City, NY. It is a marker of the opening of the annual fashion exhibit of the Costume Institution, first held in 1948.

2018 Gala[]

Madonna attended the Gala on May 7, 2018. The theme of the night was "Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination". She wore a dress by Jean Paul Gaultier. Madonna gave a surprise performance on the night, performing "Like a Prayer" and "Hallelujah". She was also interviewed alongside three-time collaborator Nicki Minaj, of whom hinted at an upcoming "surprise" between the two.
